Meetings

CAPD meetings are held on the first Tuesday of the month, except as otherwise noted, at 5:15pm. The meeting location is the First United Methodist Church, Family Life Center, Room 111, 1300 Lavaca Street Austin, TX 78701.

Our meetings for 2023 will be April 11, May 2, June 6, August 1, September 7, and October 3.

Membership

Members are the heart of CAPD. Membership is only $10 by cash or check. Membership can also be paid online with an additional $1 service fee. Memberships are valid for the calendar year in which they are paid.

Club History

CAPD was founded in 1994 by Bill Carlon, Kevin Cole, Sheryl Cole, Willie Gage, Jerry Garcia, Didi Garcia, Obie Greenlee, Carl Hubbell, Gerard Washington, and Jeanette Washington.

CAPD was founded as an organization that was diverse and welcomed all Democrats regardless of their race, gender, age, or sexual orientation. The founders wanted to create a space that would welcome people who wanted to be involved in the democratic process but who may have not felt comfortable in getting involved in what is sometimes a confusing and complicated process.
